The village is located at 953 meters above sea level and has 7.772 inhabitants (2014). Although founded by the Arabs as a major military enclave, initially their lands were occupied by Roman Villas. Huescar walled city was made on the border between the Kingdom of Granada and Castilla. It belonged to the Duke of Alba, which until 1953 was part of the Diocese of Toledo. He has left a the great collegiate,Santa Maria, numerous churches and convents. The village is perfectly integrated with nature and its surroundings of beautiful landscapes. It is situated close to the mountains and La Sagra is the highest point in the region. It is also close to the natural parks Cazorla, Segura, Castril and Sierra de Maria. Formerly this region was a lake and today it presents a contrasts between deserts, rivers and streams.
