Lakes in Valle Lecrín



The lake Béznar Reservoir is located in the south of the region Valle de Lecrin, on the riverbed of the river Ízbor. It has a surfece of 170 ha. The water that passes the dam is going to Motril and Salobreña. This reservoir has been created in order to laminar floods and production of hydroelectric power.


The Lake of Padul is situated next to the village Padul and is protected as a reserve within the Natural Park of Sierra Nevada. The total area contains ​​about 300 hectares. It is pooled and has a rich swamp vegetation and water birds colony.
