Historical City Museum of the Alcazaba de Loja

The museum occupies two large rooms (250 meters)of the former house of the Christian governors. In the yard a full arsenal of weapons and also the dependencies, storage and processing of the materials are placed on the museum grounds. The museum also has, as additional resource, with the Centre for Historical Interpretation Center of Loja. This center is located next to gate which gives access peatonal to the neighborhood of the Alcazaba as well as archaeological viewpoints, the  street Moraima and the Ochavada tower. It operates as a visitor reception and gives tourist information.

The museum is housed in the attractive 15th-century Antigua Casa de Cabildo. It is located in a Renaissance building that retains the originality of its original construction. This building hosted the city council until 1927, today is the seat of the center where you can learn the history and the culture and traditions of the city through its most famous characters, various display cases, illustrative panels and audiovisual.

Museum in Villanueva Mesía


Museum which was an old bakery: Tahona o Pósito (17th century): in the museum is an exibition about the history of the town and also about the working of a flour mill. There is also a room that houses an exhibition on the different culture settlements that have passed through the West of Granada until the arrival of the Muslims.

Surrounded by a beautiful natural setting, this center also -headquarters intensive preserve of fishermen is to present in a permanent exhibition water cycles in Loja and Riofrio, and the process of creation of rivers, vegetation and fauna of these spaces. This space also has a botanical garden and organizes activities and workshops of interest related to the environment.
