Villages in the Region Alhama de Granada

The earthquake in 1884 with a scale of 6,7 on the Richter scale destroyed more than 60.000 houses, mainly in the region of Alhama de Granada. The epi center was in Arenas del Rey. Besides a lot of deaths and injuries, it destroyed also a lot of history. The towns were rebuilt with the help and financial support of villages outside Andalucia and even outside Spain. Alhama is the city were a lot of historical buildings were preserved and still can be watched and visited nowadays.
