The village is located 538 meters above sea level and has 493 inhabitants (2013). The village is forming together with the villages Melegis and Saleres, the municipality of El Valle. Restábal is located near the confluence of the rivers Durcal and river Saleres, at the foot of the hill of Cajorros. The life of the inhabitants is mainly related to agricultural activities.

  • Church: Iglesia de San Cristobal (16th century);
  • Monumento a la rotonda del Calvario; 
  • Old fish market: Antigua pescadería
  • Chapel: Ermita del Cerro located at the street Calvario;
  • Castle ruins: the castle remains dates from the 14th century, Nazari time. It played the role of controlling the surrounding farmsteads and checkpoint from the Lecrín Valley to the coast, passing through Restábal and Guájares. There are fragments of what must have been a wall.

Festivities in Restábal

  • Pilgrimage of the Virgen de Fatima at the Chapel on the 13th of May;
  • Close to the 26th of July are the festivities of Santa Ana;
  • From the 25th till th 27th of December are the festivities of San Cristóbal and Nuestra Señora del Rosario celebrated;
