Festivities in Loja


  • On the 2nd of February the streets are filled with bonfires prepared by children, around which neighbors gather to eat and drink until the wee hours of the morning;
  • Carnival: It is one of the most famous in the province thanks to the long tradition of their competitive groups and the vibrant and colorful parades;
  • On the 25th of April San Marcos is celebrated with food and drinks on the country side;
  • Pilgrimage of Friendship: For 20 years it is tradition that on the 1st of May the lojeños go out in carriages with wagons and horses and accompany San Isidro Labrador to the country side where they spend a day of fun.;
  • On the 3rd of May the Day of the crosses is celebrated;
  • In the first week of June a small fair takes place that is similar to the Fair to be held in late August.
  • At the end of August the big fair takes place with fire works, attractions for children, bullfights, the Festival "volaera Flamenca", great performances and sports competitions are held;
