Palacio de Narváez - Loja


This nineteenth century palace was the personal residence of General Narvaez, and houses now the townhall of Loja. It is located in the historic center of the city on Calle Duque de Valencia.

 

Inside it retains a central courtyard square, in the center of which there was a fountain of Carrara marble cup. On the columns appear medallions representing famous people in the history of Spain. it highlights also the imperial staircase in marble, the old dungeons (now Municipal Historical Archive) and the old ballroom of the Duke (current Municipal Council Chamber). The palace has two floors and an attic located on Calle Duque de Valencia and two floors overlooking the Plaza de Abajo or Plaza de Joaquín Costa.
