Church: Iglesia de Santa Catalina - Loja

The church is located in the heart of the popular Barrio Alto in Loja. It was built between the sixteenth and seventeenth century and was the subject of numerous personal donations of Queen Elizabeth II, through the General Narvaez.

It is emphasized, before its destruction during the Civil War, the magnificent examples of portable art represented in a varied imagery and the extraordinary baroque altarpiece of the Churriguera school. The interior is organized on a basilica with side chapels and covered with coffered arches resting on pointed arches. Source: http://www.aytoloja.org
