The village is located 4 meters above sea level and has 2622 inhabitants (2013). The village belongs to the municipality of Motril. Torrenueva, is located on the Costa Tropical of Granada at the foot of Sierra Lújar, with a large strip of coastline which makes it ideal for enjoying water sports.
The beaches are recognized by the Awards "Certificate Q Quality". This makes it one of the most visited beaches in the summer season and one of the safest for swimming.
Torrenueva has several facilities that enliven the stay of adults and children with a wide range of cultural and leisure activities organized by the town.
