La Mamola

La Mamola is situated at the beach and is part of the municipality Popolos. The small town is located at the foot of a hill crowned by the Tower of Cautor.

Agriculture occupies the bulk of employment; the greenhouses employ many locals. Fishing remains in La Mamola as a recreational activity. In the 1980s the fishing fleet of the people moved to the port of Motril and Barcelona, in search of better fishing grounds.
