Cádiar



The village is located at 919 meters above sea level and has 1515 inhabitants (2013). It is located in the central south of the region. Cádiar consists of the villages of Cádiar Narila and Yátor.

 

It is nestled between the majestic Sierra Nevada and the Contraviesa with the River Guadalfeo, among olive trees, almond trees, oaks and vineyards. It has excellent restaurants and a winery, Barranco Oscuro, where some  quality red and white wines are produced.

  •  Ermita de San Blas. Cádiar: Built in the sixteenth century in brick with a single rectangular body and bell tower;
  • Church of Santa Ana in Cádiar C / Dr. Fleming; Previously known as the Conception, is a building of the sixteenth century in Renaissance style;

Festivities in Cádiar


  • On the 3rd of February the fiesta in honor of Sant Blas is celebrated;
  • On the 26th of July the fiesta of Santa Ana is celebrated with fires and preparing potatoes;
  • Expo Cádiar: a trade fair is held in mid-August. This includes an exibition of typical products and food of the region. During this celebration various cultural activities are organized.
