The Aranzada winery is located in Alhama de Granada, a town 895 meters to the southwest of the province of Granada. It is an area of vast plains to the north and a wide mountainous region to the south and is 60 km from the Costa del Sol. It belongs to the region of the province of Granada called Poniente Granadino and, within this, to the south. This region has a long tradition in grape growing and wine making; Today, it is one of the areas that is gaining prominence in the panorama of the wines of Granada.
Since immemorial time Alhama has been characterized by the high quality of its wines which are traditionally prepared in small wineries. In recent decades, there have been numerous attempts to form a cooperative, that brings together local vintners in order to pormote a market under a designation of origin.
Finally one of them was founded in early 2004, when the Aranzada cellar was presented as a concern of a number of founding members who had experience in order to achieve improvements in local production of grapes through the introduction of new varieties or improving farming methods and tillage.
