Puerta de Fajalauza

Puerta de Fajalauza in Arabic bab al-Lawza Fayy, whose translation would be Puerta del Collado de los Almendros, was the access to the highest part of Albaicin. Historically it was the place where Boabdil came in 1486, after being released by the Catholic Kings, to regain the throne he had usurped of his uncle the Zagal. In the Moorish uprising of 1568 it was one of the areas designated for the initiation of the revolt.
