Pinos Puente

Pinos Puente (37°15′06″N 3°44′58″O)

The village is situated at 576 meters above sea level and has 10.718 inhabitants (2014). Pinos Puente is situated in the valley of Granada, on the western slope of Sierra Elvira and surrounded by the river Cubillas. This makes it ideal for hiking, mountain biking, hang-gliding and paragliding.

To the same municipality belongs also: Casanueva, Zujáira, Valderrubio, Trasmulas and Fuensanta. Monte El Piorno is a mountain that is situated next to Pinos Puente and has an altitude of about 1100 meters. At his feet is the Barrio de las Cuevas, called by this name for the large number of caves on this mountain. It is one of the most visited places in Pinos Puente.

Festivities in Pinos Puente

The day of the Patrón San Pascual Bailón is celebrated on the 17th of May in Pinos Puente;
The "Feria" is celebrated in the second half of August;
On the 17th of April Conmemoración del Descubrimiento de América is celebrated;
The fiesta in honor of San Isidro Labrador is celebrated on the 15 May (procession);
Casanueva, the main fiesta takes place on the 13th of June, in honour of its patron "San Antonio";
Valderrubio, the "feria" takes place on the 8th September;
Trasmula, the "feria" is on the 7th of October;
In Zujáira, the fiesta del Ajo Blanco on the 12th of October and the fiesta de San Isidro Labrador on the 15th of May.
