Pre Industrial Sugar Cane Museum - Motril


The Museum of Pre-industrial Sugar Cane is located behind the "Casa de la Palma" on the ruins of an old sugar mill of the sixteenth century, In a space of over 1,000 square meters you see the process of manufacturing and marketing of sugar cane between the 13th and 18th centuries. There are original scale reproductions of the mills and presses, as well as the brewhouse and purging of the loaves of sugar, which makes this an unique place in Europe.

Entrance Fee


Entrance fee: €3  Guided tour included. The price of the visit includes a guided tour. The visit can be done in Spanish, English, French or German. The museum provides information leaflets in multiple languages.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday (on Sunday in the mornings only)

Morning: 10:00 - 13:30 h. 

Afternoon: 17:00 - 20:30 h.
