Cueva del Agua Alfaguara - Viznar

The cave is located in the Sierra de la Alfaguara at 1584 m above sea level. La Cueva del Agua is one of the most spectacular caves and best preserved in Andalusia, situated in Sierra de la Alfaguara, geographical center of the province of Granada. It has stalagmites and stalactites. Its natural wealth is so great that it has become a huge scientific laboratory. The Council of Granada created in the early 90s the Management Committee of Caves and a major research laboratory was installed inside. The research center was controlling even the smallest variation in it, causing over time. All coordinated by different universities. The reason for this is that Cueva del Agua is one of the caves of the peninsula that is more and more delicate and has an unique microfauna. It was recently discovered that inside inhabit unique species, such as the pseudoscorpion.

Take the road from Alfaguara to Puerto Lobo and after 900 meters there is a sign indicating the direction to the cave..
