Montejícar

The village is located 1137 meters above sea level and has 2265 inhabitants (2014). The village is located at the foot of the mountain Sierra Alta Coloma, nestled in a valley surrounded by farmland and olive groves and abundant wildlife.

The village has several historic churches and the main attraction are the castle ruins situated on a hill next to the village. From the castle you have a beautifiul view on Montejícar and the valley.

Festivities in Montejícar

On the 25th of April "San Marcos" is celebrated.
Montejícar celebrates its festivities in honor of the Virgen de la Cabeza around August 15th. These celebrations is notable for its representation of Moors and Christians.
On the 14th of September they celebrate El Santo Cristo de la Veracruz.
The last Sunday of September they celebrate "la Romeria de la Virgen de la Cabeza on the Cerro de Cabeza;
