Tower Ruins of Jérez de Marquesado - Torre Alcáraz

The Alcazar Tower is located at the opposite site of the town, on the other bank of the river, between the castle and the road from Jerez del Marquesado to Lanteira. The powerful tower is conical structure, rectangular 7.40 x 6.90 meters of wide and 12 meters high.

Its base is solid and the interior is distributed over 3 floors. Inside it has only a staircase that leads to the terrace. On the west side is the access, lintel and is located on a higher altitude. You can also see a window with horseshoe arch. On the north side you can see two loopholes and some weep holes. On the south site are 4 loopholes arranged at different levels. Next to the tower are the remains of walls and towers of reinforcement, which suggests that there was an albacar where people and livestock resguardaría during enemy attacks.
