The Tower of Deifontes

The tower of Deifontes or the Watch Tower, as it is known, is dating from the fourteenth century. It is located on the border between Cogollos Vega and Deifontes, the construction is of Arabic origin, and is in good condition. From the tower  you have a beautiful view on  the surroundings. The watchtower (or hisn in Husun plural) can be accessed by a forest track that goes up into the mountains. After this you have a small parking where you can park your car. From this point a small hiking trail goes up to the tower (300 meters). From the the hill you have stunning views over the country side. Its location was a vital point for control of the capital of the Moorish kingdom from Jaen.
