Freila



The village is located at 822 meters above sea level and has 985 inhabitants (2014). Location nestled in a natural environment near the reservoir "Negratin". It lanscapes have a lot of contrast;  the small fertile valleys with the reddish wastelands.

 

Freila is characterized by a set of tourist resources of interest, among them a tower of nine meters high that belonged to a medieval castle. The village consist of a lot of cave houses. Its proximity to the dam of Negratín favors water sports like canoeing, rowing or fishing, and enjoy a cool swim in its beaches. 

Points of Interest in Freila


  • The Castle of  Freila,  (13th to 15th century).. It consists of a tower, two lienzos walls, and a rain tank.
  • Torre del Maruq, Arabic watchtower near Embalse de Negratín.

Festivities in Freila


  • San Marcos, on the 24th and 25th April.
  • Summer festival: Fiestas de Agosto, the first weekend of August in honor of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores Sorrows.
