Torvizcón



The village is situated at a level of 685 meters above sea level and has 734 inhabitants (2013). Torvizcón is the largest town in the Contraviesa, the mountain range between the Sierra Nevada and the sea. It is a typical village of the Alpujarra with its narrow streets and white houses.

  • Church in Moorish style "Nuestra Señora del Rosario". It is one of the seven churches in Las Alpujarras that has been raised  before 1530;

Hiking:

  • Ruta de Pedro Antonio de Alarcón:  is a route that recreates the journey that this writer did in the nineteenth century by the Alpujarra, riding on a mule.

Festivities in Torvizcón


  • San Anton is celebrated in the weekend before the 17th of January;
  • On the 25th of April, the Festival is celebrated in honor of San Marcos which is traditional celebrated with a picnic.
  • During the first week of October the festivities in honor of the Santisima Virgen del Rosario are held.
