Mecina Bombarón

The village is located at 1110 meters above sea level and has 660 inhabitants. The village is part of the municipality Alpujarra de la Sierra. Just outside the town in the direction of Yegen you can see a nice Roman bridge that is in pretty could condition. By passing this bridge you can enjoy the lovely natural environment next to the river side.

Festivities in Mecina Bombarón

With Eastern there are several celebrations;
The 2nd until the 4th of May they celebrate the fiesta of Santa Cruz with a procession to the chappel.

Points of Interest in Mecina Bombarón

The hermitages in Mecina Bombarón ("la Ermita de los Remedios" and "la Ermita de las Animas";
Church Iglesia Parroquial de San Miguel Arcangel (18th century);
Old Roman Bridge which was part of the old road between Almeria and Granada. It is located below the current modern bridge. Close to the bridge is also an old renovated windmill located;
The former headquarters of medina which was built with neoclasical influence;
Two old and well maintained washrooms, one is at the top of the village on the Old Town Square street known by the same name. The other utility is located in the heart of Bairro Alto and called "Laundry Captain source";
Picnic area: Merendero las Chorreras; one of the most beautiful picnic areas because of its waterfall. Directions: it is halfway a forest path from Yegen to Mecina Bombarón or vice versa (10 km´s);
