This village is located at 659 meters above sea level and has 3791 inhabitants (2013). The village is well known for his bottled and medicinal water. The village is situated within the Natural Park Sierra de Nevada and has also one of the highest rated spas in its town.
Festivities in Lanjarón
- On the 20th of January the patron Sant Sebastian is celebrated with processions;
- With Eastern are several processions organized;
- The traditonal village festival and most important is celebrated during 5 days around the 24th of June, the day of "San Juan el Bautista", generally the weekend most close to this day;
- La Parva: This festival is celebrated on the first Sunday in August, at the river in Lanjaron, it is a recording how the wheat from the chaff is separated from the harvest.
Points of Interest in Lanjarón
- The building "Balneario de Lanjaron" , construction in the early twentieth-century in Moorish style with two very nice towers;
- The church, (17th century) that replaced the previously that burned in 1568.;
- The castle ruins that are situated outside the center of town, only part of the exterior walls are left over, all in very poor condition;
- Three chapels; on is located in the town itself and two others nearby;
- The three guns, two historic ones and one of the twentieth century, which have been placed throughout the village;
- The neighbourhood "Barrio Hondillo", the most typical of the town, with its narrow streets and ornate pillars and potted flowers;
