Sugar Cane Interpretation Center - Motril


The Sugar Cane Interpretation Center is analysing the sugar cane as a botanical specy, its exceptional environmental conditions that are necessary for its development, the Asian origin of the plant and its travel throughout the Middle Ages to the Arabs to the coast of Granada. Further attetion is given to its varieties, culture, tillage, sugar and senses (the sense of sweetness), chemical energy (sucrose), the current ecosystem and the cultural landscape of Motril formed by the sugar cane which is unique in continental Europe. The Center also houses temporary exhibitions.
